GOATS
Manifesto
The GOAT is the thing we look up to. The thing we hope to reach.
GOATS is the truth beneath it: that same greatness is already in you — in equal measure. You were never below it. You were it all along.
We make purposeful apparel that carries what matters: humility, ambition, faith, hope, and love.
Because greatness obligates a triumphant story.
And by the grace of God, yours has already begun.
Our Story
I grew up housing insecure — moving between hotels, motels, shelters, and whoever's couch would take my mother and me. I didn't have a father in the house. By the sixth grade I'd already decided it was my job to carry us out, so I worked like it. I got the grades, became an Eagle Scout, gave everything to soccer because I thought being great enough, and working hard in the areas I viewed important at that time would save us. But for a long time it felt like the harder I worked, the more doors closed anyway.
Then it all came apart at once. I ran out of money and left college. The person I thought I'd marry left me. I moved somewhere I knew no one and lost almost everything — fired from jobs, my car towed three separate times because I couldn't afford insurance. I slept in that car fifty-two miles from the place I called home later to be evicted in. Cleaning up with baby wipes and deodorant in the summer heat sleeping in a baking car just so I wouldn't be late and lose the only work I had to make enough money to try and make ends meat. I ubered until four in the morning to make rent I still couldn't cover. I was fighting with everything I had to keep a life together that kept burning down faster than I could rebuild it — all ambition and drive, no peace.
That's when I found God. Not on a good day. Alone, at the bottom, with no one left to call. I opened my Bible because it felt no other door was open, and slowly the man in the mirror started to change before the circumstances did. I found the manhood I never grew up with in Jesus Christ, and in His word I finally understood the three things that had flickered in and out of my whole life, always right before something good: faith, hope, and love. Eventually I made it to a new start, God gave me my wife, and lead me to peace — and to this. Through every bit of it, even the parts I couldn't understand while I was in them, God was building the man writing this to you now.
I'm not going to lie to you — I didn't even want to share this. I never felt ashamed for it, but didn’t want people to feel bad like it wasn’t God’s plan. I just figured that if you've been through your own struggles, your own trials and tribulations, then maybe you could connect with mine. Enough to build your own triumphant story. Enough to know that greatness was already inside you the whole time, because of what we went through. Why GOATS
In 2023, in the middle of all of it, an idea came to me.
Everyone knows GOAT — Greatest Of All Time. It's the person we look up at, the standard we hope to live up to. But I started asking: what if that word could mean something for the rest of us? For the person grinding in silence, sleeping in their car, carrying a weight nobody sees, wondering if they're even worthy while their triumphant story is being built.
So I reframed it. GOATS: Greatness Obligates A Triumphant Story.
The greatness you look up to in someone else is already in you — in equal measure. You don't have to reach GOAT status to be worthy. In God's eyes you already are, and you always were. Greatness isn't a finish line you chase. It's a story you were made to live. And struggle isn't proof you're failing — it's the very thing that builds the faith, hope, and love that carry you through. That is greatness in itself. You don’t have to think you or the place your in isn’t enough, like you need to look up to an “idol” as if God didn’t make them too. You need you to realize that your struggles are a strong bit of your greatness.
That's what every piece we make is meant to say. Not "become great." You already are. So keep living in your story, and remember you are enough today even if the place you want to live up to comes, tomorrow.
Giving Back
A portion of every sale goes to organizations supporting at-risk youth and people facing food and housing insecurity — because that was me, and that was my mother. I know what it is to not have a bed that's yours, to not know where the next meal or the next dollar comes from.
Greatness obligates. When you rise, you owe something to the people still climbing. Being a provider is the thing I always felt called to be — for my mother, for my wife, and now, through GOATS, for others. Giving back isn't a marketing line for us. It's the whole point.
To You
If you're in your own season of struggle right now — hold on. Keep your faith, your hope, and your love, and keep building them. The greatness you're chasing has been in you the entire time.
We are not selling apparel FOR any brand, we are a brand selling purpose apparel for a movement. We help those with a story to tell wear theirs so they can feel the greatness within them.
Welcome to GOATS. Your triumphant story has already begun.
